West Australian Octopus is caught along two of the most unspoiled stretches of water on Australia’s coast. Hundreds of miles from any city, the remote open oceans off the Abrolhos Islands and the southern coast are well known for their cool clear waters and fresh abundant marine life.
The O. tetricus West Australian Octopus lives very well on the lobsters, crabs and scallops also found here in our clean blue ocean. Unlike many other species that live and breed in one small area, the young take to the currents to seek out fresh and healthy habitats. We believe it’s this quality of diet and environment that gives our octopus the superior flavour, texture and colour, that many chefs regard as the best they’ve ever eaten.
Maintaining the balance of our environment is key to preserving the quality of our catch. While this coast is high in fish numbers, we want to keep our impact low. It’s about fishing well under sustainable limits and using a more advanced trap, that ensures no bycatch, no ghost fishing and no harm to the animals.
